UNION CENTER CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT

"Connecting People with Jesus"

At our Church Board/Deacon Retreat on November 3, 2001, we asked the question, "What does God want us to do?" We used the Prayer of Jabez to focus on how God might want us to expand our territory as a church.

As we continue to ask these questions and live out our mission in the coming year, our priorities will be to:

PRAY for God's direction for our future. We will set aside special times for prayer and teach and preach about its importance in keeping with the 2002 Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren Call to Prayer.

PROMOTE DYNAMIC WORSHIP through the use of preaching, drama, music and faith stories.

PROMOTE FRIENDSHIP EVANGELISM by encouraging people to invite their friends to church, providing small group opportunities to which new persons can be invited, and training for evangelism.

ENHANCE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
through new Sunday School and Wednesday evening classes and curriculum for children, youth and adults.

IMPROVE HOSPITALITY through the establishment of a Welcome Center, a visitation team for visitors, and training for ushers and greeters.

DEVELOP NEW MINISTRIES for emotional and physical healing.

STRENGTHEN MENTORING PROGRAM for children, youth and adults.

STRENGTHEN FOLLOW-UP PROGRAM for persons who miss three or more consecutive Sundays.

PROMOTE INVOLVEMENT IN MISSION TRIPS AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES for members of our congregation.

EXPLORE HIRING A CHURCH GROWTH CONSULTANT to help us look at the need for increased space for worship, Sunday School, Day Care, youth activities, recreation and storage.
